Where can I take my exams?

Exams for Salt Lake Center classes can be taken at the Salt Lake Center Testing Center or in Provo at the Harman Testing Center (HCEB) and/or the BYU Testing Center in the Grant Building (HGB) depending on where they have been sent by your course instructor. See your course syllabus for specific details.

Do I need my BYU ID card to take an exam at the Testing Center?

No, but you must present a valid form of photo ID to take an exam. The Testing Center will accept a driver’s license, passport, or the BYU student ID on the BYU app as alternatives. A picture of a photo ID is not a valid form of ID.

When does the late fee begin for my exam?

You can view when late fees begin for your exams at testing.byu.edu.

My test deadlines are listed differently on the Testing Center website than they are on Learning Suite. Which one should I go by?

Please refer to the Testing Center website for accurate deadlines and testing information. You can view your test dates online.

I’m an Independent Study student. Where can I park when I come to take exams?

Independent Study Students are welcome to park in the student parking garage, located at 50 North 400 West. Parking validations are available at the Testing Center.

No, students may only use the student parking garage when visiting the BYU Salt Lake Center for academic purposes (i.e., attending class, studying, taking a test, etc.).

What are the parking rules at the BYU Salt Lake Center?

BYU Salt Lake Center Student Parking Rules

Student parking is available in the parking garage directly west of campus (see map below). The garage entrance is located on 400 West and 50 North (look for the parking attendant booths). You are required to scan your student ID card at the card readers to open the student parking entry and exit gates. You do not have access to any other parking gates.

Students are required to always have their student ID cards with them to scan through security and parking doors and gates. This helps keep the garage traffic flowing smoothly and will improve campus safety and security. Your student ID card is not transferable to others and you should not use your student ID card to scan others into and out of the parking garage.

See Student Services for help with parking access on your student ID cards. All student parking related requests, questions, or concerns should be addressed with Student Services who will work with the Parking Office as necessary.

If you forget your student ID card, please go home and get it. If you have misplaced your student ID card, you should push the button at the parking entry gate to receive a timestamped entry ticket which will also open the entry gate. Please go to Student Services to receive a replacement student ID and/or parking validation. When you arrive at the parking exit gate with a timestamped entry ticket and parking validation, insert your entry ticket first followed by your validation. Lost entry tickets will require payment to open the parking exit gate.

Bike racks are located on the west side of campus, between the BYU Salt Lake Center and Ensign College buildings. Don't forget to bring a lock and secure your bike.

If you are being dropped off or picked up, please utilize the North Temple Street drop off zone between the BYU Salt Lake Center and Ensign College Buildings. If you decide to use student parking to be dropped off or picked up, there is a 15-minute grace period (no charge) with an parking entry ticket. When at the parking entry gate, the driver should push the button for a timestamped entry ticket to open the gate which starts the 15-minute grace period. When at the parking exit, the driver should insert the timestamped entry ticket to open the gate. The first 15 minutes are free. If the driver leaves after the 15-minute grace period, then payment is required. Lost or no entry tickets will require payment to open the parking exit gate.

Student parking is only for students attending classes or studying at BYU Salt Lake Center. Do not use student parking for other purposes. There is no overnight parking. Parking rules are enforced 24/7. Parking violators may have their vehicle immobilized or towed at the vehicle owners expense.

If you are attending a non-BYU Salt Lake Center event downtown (Abravanel Hall, Delta Center, The Gateway, Salt Palace Convention Center, etc.) student parking is not free and you will be asked to pay the posted event parking rate.

Parking is not guaranteed and is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is at your own risk and the owner/operator cannot be held responsible for fire, theft, vandalism, or damage to your property. We recommend you lock your vehicle, remove your valuables, and use the buddy system going to and from your destination.

If student parking fills to capacity, you will need to find an alternate parking lot. There are several public parking lots surrounding the campus and fees may apply. See UTA Transit Pass for free public transportation options.

The BYU Salt Lake Center Library will then issue a new BYU ID card. A new BYU ID card may also be paid for and obtained at the BYU ID Center located in the Wilkinson Center in Provo.

What time does the FrontRunner train arrive/depart?
